SIDE was established to address the differing and diverse needs of South Island dairy farmers. This is achieved through providing education, business information and up-to-date research to empower the farmers that are shaping New Zealand’s dairying future. Each year SIDE is held alternatively at Lincoln University, Christchurch and Stadium Southland, Invercargill.
Time outSIDE has been organised by SIDE’s dairy farmer network, and is targeted at young dairy farmers and people new to dairying. It has been held in regional locations and offered five practical and interactive workshops such as:
- Spot the sick cow
- Who do you work for – your future or the bosses?
- What there is to know about grass
- Maintenance on a dairy farm
- Keeping yourself safe on farm bikes
Time outSIDE workshops were not held in 2014 or 2015.
